Hi beauties! Welcome back to my Burt's Bees mini series - we're doing Part II today. As you can see by the title, it's going to be all about their Gloss Lip Crayons. Before I start, if you haven't seen Part I of this series where I talked about their Tinted Lip Oils - click here. Now let's get going with today's post.
Same as Tinted Lip Oils, Gloss Lip Crayons are one of the new product lines from Burt's Bees this season (spring 2017). They retail around $9.99CAD. This line has six pigmented, moisturizing shades available at selected natural, grocery, drug and mass retailers (i.e. Walmart, Target and Shoppers Drug Mart). Because they are lip crayons, they allow precise application. They also glide on your lips smoothly and finishes with a lush gloss.
These lip crayons are made with 100% natural ingredients. Their key ingredients are shea butter, kendi oil (rich in omega 3), jojoba oil and community sourced beeswax. Thanks to shea butter, jojoba oil and beeswax, these crayons provide up to 8 hours of moisturization leaving your lips feeling soft and smooth. And if you're wondering, these crayons have no added flavour or fragrance.
Now, let me show you the swatches and how each of the gloss lip crayons look on my bare lips.
OUTBACK OASIS is the lightest shade in this range. It comes out as pinky nude shade on my lips. It's definitely a daytime colour. I personally think it's a great colour for a casual summer day. It gives out a sweet girly vibe and it'd probably match well with most of your outfits.
SANTORINI SUNRISE has an orange undertone. It comes out as a peachy nude shade on my lips, which I really like. I also think this one is a great summer daytime colour.
PINK LAGOON appears to be a milky barbie pink on my lips. I'm not too used to having this colour or any barbie pink shades on my lips, but I can see it as a fun colour to wear. This colour would be more suitable for a fun day out with the girls.
TAHITIAN SUNSET appears as a rosy shade on my lips. This is a shade that's perfect for day and night. One that is not too overpowering for the office, yet dark enough for a night out. I think this one might just get the most use from me! I mean after all, this shade would probably match with many different outfits as well.
PACIFIC COAST comes off as a really pigmented red and I love it! I generally like nude or red shades for lipsticks and this red is pretty bang on I would say. Needless to say, this shade of red gives off a classy vibe and would be perfect for a fancy night out.
To my surprise, BORDEAUX VINES appeared to be a burgundy on my lips - I thought it was going to appear more on the purple side. I actually had a little trouble applying this colour, it came out uneven and I had to even it out myself. I didn't do it in the photo above, but if I use this shade in the future, I'd probably use a lip liner to help get cleaner lines around my lips.
My Overall Thoughts:
I generally don't prefer wearing lip glosses cause I don't like the glossiness and that thick and oily feeling it gives out. However, I would definitely recommend these crayons. They are not only pigmented and moisturizing, but their glossy finish actually isn't too overpowering. Plus, they feel pretty light weighted on the lips. The only negative thing I do have to say is that they do smudge and feather a little easy. But with the help of lip liner, your lip crayons will stay well in place.
I hope this review was useful. Which shade did you like the most?
