Hi beauties, so I thought I'd start a mini series sharing my different makeup looks with you guys. To be honest, I really just have three different looks that I use throughout the recent years. So, let's start this mini series with my everyday makeup look. Before I start, I just wanted to say that I'm in no way a professional makeup artist - I pretty much just do what works for me and I try to keep the look as minimal as possible on a daily basis. To give you a little background, I didn't start putting on makeup on a regular basis until probably year two of university. Even then, all I did was curl my lashes and put on a clear coat of mascara. I don't think I started putting on concealer until the last year of university and finally started putting eyeliner on a year or two later. And now (about five years later), I finally have this everyday makeup routine, so here goes!
Step 1: Concealer
On a daily basis, I skip putting on foundation as I personally don't feel the need for it. So, I go straight to concealing the dark areas on my face (i.e. my under eye dark circles and around my nose area) with my all time favourite concealer - Makeup Forever's Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream. Incase you're wondering, I use #6 Ivory. I've been using this concealer for five plus years, as I mentioned on 'My Top 5 Beauty Products of All Time' post. This concealer provides a very good coverage without suffocating my skin and that's one of the most important thing to me. This is also one of the key reasons why I don't put on foundation daily.
Step 2: Eyebrow Pencil
I didn't start using a brow pencil until the recent 2 years or so. It may be an age thing since I only noticed that my brows aren't as full as they used to be in the recent years. After trying out quite a few brow pencils, I was so happy to come across Tarte's Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Pencil. It doesn't only make my brows look fuller, but they look pretty natural as well.
Step 3: Eyeliner
I always thought that liquid liners were so hard to use, as my hands weren't stable enough to draw proper straight lines. So, I used gel liner for quite awhile, before I found my perfect liquid liner - Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner. I love how this eyeliner finishes matte and doesn't give an overpowering finish. (Side note, I actually did a post comparing it with Stila's liquid liner - feel free to check it out here.) Since I prefer a minimal everyday look, I usually draw a small and thin wing liner.
Step 4: Blush
Blush is important to me as it gives my skin a little bit of colour. I'm one of those people that can't get tanned no matter what, hence the importance of blush. I've switched from blush to blush throughout the years and must I say it wasn't easy to find a light pink blush that finishes matte. That being said, I've been loving Bobbi Brown's Blush in Desert Pink. It's long lasting and gives my cheeks that natural blush tone I want.
Step 5: Concealer
Instead of a highlighter, I've been using Maybelline's Cover Stick Corrector Concealer in Ivory to highlight my face. I started using the concealer as a highlighter when I ran out of my highlighter stick. To my surprise, the concealer actually works pretty well and that was the end of buying highlighter sticks for me. I usually just highlight my brow bones and the bridge of my nose to enhance my features a little. Just make sure you blend it in well (like any other highlighters), so you don't have white stripes on your face!
Step 6: Lip Balm
I can't stand dry lips, so I always make sure my lips are moisturized. That's why I always finish off my look with a lip balm. My go to lip balm has been Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm for the past 3 years. The beeswax seals in the moisture and keep my lips looking and feeling moisturized for a long period of time. I've also mentioned about this lip balm in my 'Winter Beauty Essential' YouTube video - feel free to check it if you want to know more about the product or interested in other moisturizing products!
And there you have it - my everyday makeup look! If you're wondering - yes, will always be days when I have meetings, simple date nights or other occasions where I need to amp up my everyday makeup look. So, stay tuned for part II of this mini makeup look series, where I'll reveal the additional products I use to amp up this everyday makeup look!
