Hi beauties! I hope you're all having a lovely week so far. I don't think I've ever mentioned about this on my blog or on any of my social media platforms, but October is my birthday month. So, in celebration of that I figured I'd do something a little different this year on the blog. As you've probably already figured out, I decided to do a monthly/seasonal favourites post. I know I'm a little late for an October favourites post, so I figured I'd combine it with my fall favourites. Anyways, before I continue to ramble on - let's just get into my October/Fall beauty product favourites!
Although I'm more of a lip balm girl, something about fall makes me think of dark coloured lips. I was into dark purple last fall, but this fall, I've been loving burgundy shades. I love how Burt's Bees' Crimson Coast is not too dark, yet it's dark enough to give you that fall vibe. Since it's not too dark, you're still able to wear this shade on a daily basis and I personally think it's suitable for most professional settings as well.
In the summer, I'd use sheet masks that concentrate more on dark spots, wrinkles and so on. During the fall season, I usually start using skincare products with more moisturizing ingredients in them to protect my skin from the fall dry air. Lately I've been loving My Beauty Diary's Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mask. My Beauty Diary is one of my favourite sheet mask brands from Asia, which I'll probably be doing a whole blog post on later.
Back to topic, hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisture-binding ingredient that keeps skin plump, hydrated and young-looking.¹ The goodness from these masks leave my skin feeling softer, smoother and well moisturized for the season. Plus, did I mention that this brand gives such a generous amount of nourishing ingredients in each of their sheet mask packages?! The leftover liquid can last me a few days.
Our hair already dries out a little when we blow dry it, but with fall's dry air it makes our hair even drier. I recently added Biolage's Smoothing Styling Milk with Honey & Oat to my haircare routine. So far, this styling milk is doing a good job in keeping my hair soft, smooth & moisturized. I love how this line from Biolage uses 99% origin ingredients as it's healthier for the hair. This styling milk's key ingredients are honey and oat.
Honey is rich antioxidant properties, which prevent damage, keeping your scalp and hair healthy. It also seals moisture in your hair, strengthens the hair follicles and encourages hair growth.² As for oats, the proteins and lipids present in oatmeal has emollient properties, which make it a great skin moisturizer. They also strengthen, thickens, shines and smoothes your hair. And did I mention, they are perfect for sensitive skin.³
I first tried this lip balm last winter. Though it wasn't moisturizing enough for my lips during the Canadian winter months, it's doing a great job in keeping my lips moisturized for the fall weather. It has been leaving my lips feeling soft, nourished and moisturized each time.
This lip balm is infused with refreshing sugar mint flavour and wild mango butter. Its key ingredients are: sugar, wild mango butter, sea fennel extract and hyaluronic filling spheres. These ingredients help contain moisturization, protect & soften dry lips, soothes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and enhance volume of the lips.
Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm
I've been loving this BB cream for a few years now. Its key ingredients are: bio-peptide complex, arbutin and adenosine. These ingredients help even out your skin tone and improves the elasticity and firmness of your skin. I love how light this BB cream feels on the skin. It's relatively moisturizing and definitely beautifies my skin. Another plus to this BB cream is that it got SPF45, which allows me to avoid putting on an extra layer of sun screen. Yes, it's important to always have sunscreen on when the sun's out, even when summer's over. Though I only use this BB cream a few times a week (when I have meetings or when I go out on brunch/dinner dates), but I can confidently say this is my go to BB cream for the season!
Taking care of my hands have been an important thing for me for the last few years. And when fall's dry air comes around, it doesn't only dry out my hands a little more, but it also makes my cuticles feel a little drier as well. This year, I decided to give cuticle creams a try and I must say I'm pleased with my choice of cuticle cream. One thing you should know about me is that I love Burt's Bees' lip balms and have been using them for a several years now. So, it was kind of a no brainer when I saw their cuticle cream at the store. Burt's Bees' Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream's key ingredient is lemon oil. It's famous for its cleansing and astringent qualities. The cream goes through oils and dirt leaving the skin smoother and the cuticles softer. I also love the refreshing lemon scent it gives out.
