Welcome back beauties! Happy new year - I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and a lovely start to 2017! Goals can be set at anytime of the year, however the start of a new year always give us that positive and new beginning vibe. So we tend to be more motivated to set them around this time of the year. We've all been through those years where we kinda just slowly slack off and in turn completely put off those new year goals. Well, let's not do it again this year - let's achieve our goals this year and make it our year! Here are my top 7 tips for achieving goals.
NO. 1 VISUALIZE
It's important to understand the reasons for your goals and be sure that they're realistic ones. What results do you want to see? Where do you want to be? Why are these accomplishments important to you? To help yourself understand, try brainstorming and writing your goals down. You can use a planner in the 'Notes' section or make a vision board. These are great ways to help set your goals because 1) you get a better understanding of them, 2) it's already making you think more deeply about these goals and 3) they are great reminders and can help you get back on track when you lose focus.
NO. 2 PLAN & IMPLEMENTATION
Once you've decided on your goals, it's time to think about how to achieve them. Are there different tools or systems you can use? For example, if your goal is to lose a certain amount of pounds, find an app that can help track your workout sessions or ones that can help organize your meal plans and track your daily food intake. You can also find a friend and set up a buddy system for your workout sessions, or you can sign up for a yoga membership or get a trainer - whichever works best for you. Just remember whatever plan you come up with, it's very important to prioritize them as we all only have 24 hours in a day.
NO. 3 PLAN B
It's important to train ourselves to be adaptable to changes because things definitely don't always go as planned in life. However, you can make things a little easier for yourself at times of uncontrollable changes by having a plan B. My father had always taught me to have a plan B for things in life and I agree with him. This makes a big difference especially when you're trying to achieve your goals. At times of unexpected changes, we may get unmotivated and sometimes even beat ourselves up thinking that we've failed. But, don't give up - there will always be another way. This is why it's important to prepare ourselves for these situations, so we can make sure we get right back on track to achieving our goals.
no. 4 DEADLINE
I'm sure we've all been guilty at one point or another for procrastinating and eventually forgetting to do something for ourselves when there's no deadline for it. That's why it's important to set a reasonable deadline for each of your goals. This will not only help push you to achieving your goals, but will also help prioritize and better manage your time during the process. One helpful tip is to set weekly deadlines for yourself - by completing the goal bit by bit, you'll more likely be able to achieve your goal by the actual deadline.
no.5 MAKE IT MANDATORY
We'll always have distractions - whether it's watching shows on Netflix or browsing through Instagram, it's easy to find excuses to procrastinate. So, it's very important to discipline yourself. Remind yourself that things don't get done by itself, actions are required to get results. So getting the task completed is not an option. To help yourself concentrate, you can put precautions in place. For example, set an alarm for when you're allowed to take a break or set your phone on airplane mode until your task is done. Do whatever you need to do to make sure you focus fully during that period of time.
no.6 REASSESS YOURSELF
Do a weekly or a monthly assessment to see how well you've done. If you were running tight on time, see what changes you can make to improve on that. It's a good habit to assess yourself from time to time to see which areas you can improve on and which achievements you're proud of. This will be able to make the process of achieving your goals more efficient.
no.7 REWARD YOURSELF
And finally when you've achieved your goal, don't forget to reward yourself for your hard work - because you deserve it!
