Hi beauties! As many of you have probably seen from store racks, fashion magazines or other fashion influencers, you would know that cold shoulder tops are one of this spring/summer's biggest trends. I remember wearing cold shoulder tops back in my early university years - I'm not sure if it was even in back then, but I liked it. Cold shoulder tops are from the 80's and I'm so glad it's in now. Although I don't have my old pieces anymore, the cold shoulder top I'm wearing in this post is an old item from my closet. You guessed it! It's another one of my DIY's, except this time I've upcycled one of own dress shirts rather than a men's dress shirt as used in my 'DIY - Off the Shoulder Dress' post. I've actually used this dress shirt as a trial DIY before I DIY'ed my off the shoulder dress. That being said, I have no shots of how this top was DIY'ed and will not be talking about that in this post. However, if you would like me to do a blog post on how to DIY a cold shoulder top - feel free to drop me a line in the comments section and I'll be more than happy to do a proper post for you.
So onto today's topic - Cold shoulder tops are basically regular tops with peek-a-boo cutouts around the shoulder area. It gives out this hint of sexiness, revealing enough just to keep them guessing. This trend looks great on all ages since the shoulder cutouts varies from top to top. They are also perfect to wear if you are not comfortable in showing all of your arms. Plus you can wear regular bras with them - definitely a comfy, sexy and stylish piece to wear!
With this white button down cold shoulder top, I've styled it with a pair of orange mustard yellow shorts to bring in that summer vibe. I love how the shorts are made from viscose (artificial silk), it feels so soft and keeps the outfit feminine. To finish the look off, I've paired it with a pair of lace up flats (one of my go to shoes for this summer). This look is perfect for brunch and a day out with the girls.
Here are some of the cold shoulder pieces I've been loving.
Thank you so much for reading. Hope you all had an amazing weekend!
