Hi beauties! As most of you may know, off the shoulder tops/dresses are one of this spring and summer's top trend. It is also one of my favourite things to wear, so I thought why not try DIY-ing one from an old piece of clothing. You get to pick your own pattern and colour, you get to save some money and you get a 'brand new' item in your closet - how awesome is that?!
Here are the things you need:
- Men's shirt
- Pencil or Sharpie
- Ruler/Measuring Tape
- Sewing Needle & Thread or Fabric Glue (depends on the method you choose to apply)
*Please note: I hand sew this DIY because I don't own a sewing machine and am not a pro at using fabric glue, yet.
Draw a straight line on the shirt from shoulder to shoulder (right underneath the collar).
Cut along the line.
Turn the shirt inside out, fold the edge (fold it as wide as the width of the elastic) and pin the shirt accordingly.
Sew or glue the edge of the fold to create a loop (leaving space for the elastic to go through. Remember to leave a hole at each end for the elastic to be inserted.
Wrap the elastic around your shoulders, measure and cut accordingly. Pin one end of the elastic and insert the elastic around the loop util it appears on the other end.
Sew/glue the ends of the elastic together and sew/glue to close up the loop.
There you have it, I hope you guys enjoyed this DIY! Let me know in the comments below if you like these kind of DIY posts!
