Hi beauties, I'm sure most of you have heard of and seen EOS lip balms before. If not, let me give you a little background on the company. 'EOS' stands for Evolution of Smooth, the company is originated from the United States. It's a beauty company that sells lip balms, hand & body lotion as well as shave cream. Since their lip balms are one of their most popular products, I wanted to share my thoughts of them with you guys!
Disclaimer: This adorable Lip Aid Kit was sent to me, however I was not paid nor am I required to post any pictures or blog posts about the product/the brand. All opinions are my own.
As cute as their lip balm packagings are, I've never purchased them before. This is officially my first time trying them out. This Lip Aid Kit includes the following flavours: Strawberry Sorbet, Pomegranate Raspberry, Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint, Blueberry Açai and Honeysuckle Honeydew. They are all from EOS's Organic Smooth Sphere Line. My favourite scents out of these are Summer Fruit and Honeysuckle Honeydew. Before getting into my experience with these lip balms, let's go over their ingredients.
Their Organic Smooth Spheres are generally made with the following ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Beeswax/CERA ALBA (Cire d’abeille), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Natural Flavor, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Limonene, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract and Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract. I believe the few ingredients that are different between each of the lip balms are for their unique scents. You'll be able to find the full list of ingredients on EOS's website - on each of the product's page.
In relation to its ingredients, EOS was faced with a lawsuit in January 2016. Basically a girl ended up with severely cracked, bleeding, blistering and flaking lips for 10 days, after using the product in December (for more details of the case, click here). EOS were able to confirm that their lip balms were safe to use and this case was settled within the same month. If you have any concerns on whether or not the lip balms would cause you any allergic reactions, you may find more information here, where EOS clarifies certain things about the lawsuit and answer some of the FAQ's.
After receiving the adorable Lip Aid Kit, I was so excited to give these lip balms a try as I've seen them in so many stores before and some of my friends actually use them, too! I was lucky enough to have done some research before trying them out. If I wasn't planning to do this blog post, I wouldn't have known about the possible allergic reactions. Although I've sensitive skin, I've never gotten an allergic reaction on my lips from lip balms before. Please also note that the general allergic reaction causes I read were due to beeswax, vitamin E and C, so I figured I should be fine using them as I've used lip balms with those ingredients in them before. However, I still tried the lip balm with caution because I don't know if I would be allergic to any other natural ingredients in it. I applied one light coat to a small area of both my upper and lower lips, shortly after my lips started feeling drier than before and I stopped using the lip balm right away. A few hours later, my lips got a little flakey and I figured I probably am allergic to their lip balms.
Overall, I wouldn't say their lip balms are bad. They still seem like great products to me, however I'm just allergic to them. I think they would make great stocking stuffers for individuals who are currently using them with no issues! EOS currently have their holiday limited editions out with some special flavours - definitely worthwhile to check them out if you still need a last minute gift! I would say, if you still want to give them a try - do a little more research before purchasing one. And if you do grab one, test it out on your lips with caution, that way if unfortunately there are any reactions - hopefully it'd be just as mild as mine.
Thank you so much for dropping by! If you've tried EOS's lip balms before, did you have any allergic reactions to them? If you aren't allergic to them, what are your thoughts on the them? Please let me know in the comments below, I'd love to read all about it!
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas for those of you who celebrates it!
Enjoy all the good food and stay warm!
