Fight Those Pimples with Neutrogena

(*Disclaimer: These products were sent to me, however all opinions are 100% genuine & my own.)

Hey beauties! I'm back with another beauty post. June is almost here, which means prom season and summer is pretty much here, too! So, it's only natural that we want to look our best for those prom photos and while we're out and about. (P.S. I'm way past my prom time, but these products I'm introducing to you will sure help you out if this is your prom year or even just in general!)

First off, I want to point out that there are no beauty products that can just magically make acne disappear. There are many lifestyle factors that contribute to having clear skin, which we'll save for another post. That being said, beauty products can still play a part in helping to reduce the appearance of acne.

Let me just cut to the chase, you already know I'm going to talk about Neutrogena's products today. To me, Neutrogena is a pretty good drugstore brand overall. I've been using some of their products here and there throughout the past probably 10 years or so, so it only made sense for me to finally talk about them here.

Recently, I got a chance to try out a couple of products from their Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Line. This line is specifically made for acne prone skin. Since I tend to break out around that time of the month, I've added the 2 products below to my skincare routine.

Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes
($8.99 - $10.99 CAD 25 pre-moistened wipes)

Cleansing wipes are such great products for those who are always on the go or for those who are just a tad bit lazy. I'm guilty of that from time to time. Anyways, these wipes are meant to wipe away pore-clogging dirt and oil in 1 simple step without leaving any greasy residue on your skin and there's no need to rinse.

I'm not sure if Neutrogena has made any changes to their formula for this product recently or by chance my skin is actually ok with this product. But, I've done some research and there are so many negative comments on this product. Honestly, I got a bit confused because I personally didn't feel the irritation and burning sensation that most people said they felt when using the wipes - and I got sensitive skin myself. There is one thing that I noticed in many of the negative comments that I want to bring up. Some people mentioned that the wipes irritated their eyes as well. However, the package actually does say to avoid the immediate eye area. I can't stress enough on how important it is to always read the back of packages before using any new beauty products - especially if you've sensitive skin.

From my experience, these wipes are actually ok. They do a good enough job for if you're in a rush and they really don't leave any greasy residue on the skin. However, I personally do still recommend you to rinse your face after using the wipes to get a better cleanse (just my personal preference). There is one thing that I didn't like about these wipes and that is the strong alcohol smell. These wipes do have a grapefruit scent to it, however the alcohol scent is just as strong. Otherwise, I think these wipes are not so bad!

Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer
($8.99 - $10.99 CAD / 118mL)

Choosing a good moisturizer that's suitable for your skin type is very important. It definitely contributes to whether your skin has more or less acne. If you have sensitive skin like me or are prone to acne, it's important to get moisturizers that's oil-free - I've learned that the hard way.

Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer is light weighted and helps clear breakouts. It also has salicylic acid acne treatment. I personally really like this product. It does feel light on the skin, doesn't clog my pores and doesn't make my skin feel greasy, which is perfect for the summer and for your prom night. And did I mention that the grapefruit scent in this moisturizer is heavenly?! If I had to nitpick, the only negative thing I can say about this product is that it probably won't be moisturizing enough for me during the winter. However, I probably would still apply this product along with my winter moisturizer to keep my acne at bay.

Overall Thoughts

After adding these 2 products in my skincare routine, I've noticed a slight reduction in my acne situation. I like both the products overall, however I'd only highly recommend the Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer. Don't get me wrong - yes I personally do like the moisturizer more than the wipes, however I do still enjoy using those wipes. I think the Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes are still worth a try, but that's only based on my experience. Due to the amount of negative comments I saw, I'd recommend you guys to do a little more research on the wipes before deciding whether you want to purchase them or not.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme Review

(*Disclaimer: These products were sent to me, however all opinions are 100% genuine & my own.)

Hey beauties! It's been awhile since my last post, but I'm back and I'm going to try my best to stay consistent here once again. I hope you're all doing well. I miss sharing my thoughts and connecting with you guys here. Today I got another Nip + Fab review for you guys. I've been using their products here and there since 2016. Though these products were sent to me, I have to say that I genuinely do enjoy using their products. I've pretty much emptied all of the Nip + Fab products I reviewed on. On that note, if you're interested in some of their other products and ranges here are my other posts:

• Nip + Fab's Kale Range
• Nip + Fab's Dragon's Blood Fix Hyaluronic Shot & Bee Sting Fix Toning Pads
• Nip + Fac's Bodycare Range

Since we kinda skipped spring and summer is pretty much here in Toronto. I figured this would be the right time to introduce you guys to this product (I've started testing out this product since January 2018) - Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme.

These are pretty much exfoliating pads, which I think are perfect for the season. With the nice weather, most of us will probably be outdoors more often and adding a little more sunscreen onto our faces than we usually would. In turn, this does add more dirt onto our skin and clog up our pores.

These Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme are designed to exfoliate and unclog congested skin. It's recommended to be used 2 - 3 times a week and for those with sensitive skin (like me) use them once a week. I personally have been using this product every Sunday night after cleansing my face and before applying anything else.

The pads are soaked in: ¹

5% glycolic acid: gently exfoliates the skin + helps fade discolouration on the face e.g. acne scarring, pigmentation
salicylic acid: penetrates into + unclogs pores helping to combat black heads + reduce blemishes
lactic acid: removes dead cells + toxins from the skin for a smoother + more even toned surface
hyaluronic acid: improves skin hydration + keeps skin feeling soft + plump

These pads are $14.95CAD and are available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Prix across Canada

My Thoughts

Overall, these pads are a great addition to my skincare routine. I can't say that they fully helped with discolouration, however I can say that my pores definitely appeared more clear and it did leave my skin feeling softer. I personally think this product is worth a try. Plus, what's a better season to try this product out than now - when you can probably get the most benefits out of it!

Have any of you tried this product out before?
If so, let me know what you think about it in the comments below - would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for dropping by & reading!
Have a wonderful day.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide For Him | 2018 Edition

Hi beauties, I'm back with another Valentine's day gift guide and this time is for the man in your life! Guys can be kinda tricky to shop for, so I usually try to find items that are most practical - things that he can for sure use on the regular. In each of the categories below, I've found items that are suitable for different relationship stages that you may be in (i.e. newly dating, stable long term relationship and newly weds).

If you still need to get your girlfriend or your bestie(s) a Valentine's Day gift, click here for the ladies gift guide!

If you guys are freshly dating, something simple and a little more casual such as an iPad case, phone case, water bottle would probably do the job. If your man is someone who works out all year around, these Merino Thermal Tights from Outdoor Voices would be perfect for him. They're made from a breathable and heat-regulating fabric. These tights will keep you warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. They're perfect for any sweaty activities from hiking to skating. As long as you know their pants size, you can pretty much get these for him in any stage of your relationship. And if you feel like splurging a little on your lover, you can always get him a nice new pair of sunglasses

If your man is a busy businessman or is someone that can make use of a journal, this Modena A4 Journal with Portable Charger would be a perfect fit for him. I mean how awesome is it that a journal has a built in power bank that provides up to 150% extra battery for electronic devices. Next up we got a Nest cam. This is probably most suitable for those of you who are newly weds as you can use this cam not only for security, but also as a baby monitor. And finally I found this sleek and minimal dock by Native Union. I'm sure most people wouldn't mind receiving this well designed practical gift.

Home Goods

I came across this Hyper Chiller on the internet the other day and thought it'd be a great gift for those who loves cold drinks. It can turn hot coffee into perfect ice coffee within 1 minute, I mean that's pretty awesome right? The next item I found is a pair of shoe freshener. Now, this gift is probably best to get if you guys are in a long term relationship or are married. If you guys are freshly dating, you wouldn't want them to think that you think they smell right? lol Relating to shoes, if your lover is a sneakerhead, these sneaker boxes would perfect for him. These boxes got UV protection panels, which prevent sunlight discolouration and I'm sure he'd love even more for that. Lastly, if he loves his whiskey, add this lovely whiskey glasses set to the home bar.

Since turntables have been back in trend these recent years, get him his favourite record. If he is the type of man that loves taking care of his skin, spoil him with AESOP's Affiliation Grooming Kit. And if your man enjoys cooking or even better if the both of you enjoy cooking, get a single or 20 exclusive video cooking lessens from Gordon Ramsay. Maybe your man or the both of you can use one of Ramsay's fancy recipes to whip up a delicious Valentine's day meal!

I hope this list is useful to you!
What are you planning to get your man this year? I'd love to hear your ideas in the comments below!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide For Her | 2018 Edition

Hi beauties! Can't believe February is already here, anyone else thought January flew by really quick? Since it's February, I thought I'd put together a Valentine's Day gift guide for you. Whether you're getting gift(s) for your lover or if you're celebrating Galentine's Day, I got some ideas for you! Oh and hey - you can always treat yourself, too!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide For Her | 2018 Edition.png

I'm loving this Faux Fur Purse from Zara. It's cute, it's pink and it's perfect to rock on Valentine's Day, or even just any day really. One can't have too many cute bags, right? Next up, I found these pretty Layered Tassel Earrings from The Little Market. Tassel earrings are in style right now, so if you got someone that loves fashion these will probably be perfect! Remember back in the day you and your bestie would get matching bracelets and keychains, etc? Well, I found this adorable 'Donut You Want Me?' keychain from Indigo. It's certainly something I'm sure your bestie wouldn't mind receiving! And lastly, you just can't go wrong with an Initial Pendant Necklace. They're simply timeless and are suitable for all age groups.

Pretty lingerie is always a good idea. A simple little lace bralette and matching bottoms will do the job.

Home Decor

I found this cute Pom Pom Throw from Indigo. Throws are not only suitable for those who're into home decor, but are also perfect for those who gets cold easily (like myself). And if you're celebrating Galentine's Day, this Girl Power Pillow will be perfect for your bestie. For anyone who's picking up some flowers for your lover, bestie or your mom, grab a vase for them too. Vases are such great home decor pieces, plus you might just get some thoughtful points there!

Bath Items

There's nothing better than unwinding in a warm bath at the end of the day. Peony & Blush Suede Home Candle from Jo Malone can be a great home decor piece, as well as a bath item that can help set the mood. Next, we got bath salts. They help relieve pain and muscle cramps. I found this bottle of Calm Bath Salts from Herbivore. It doesn't only relax your body, but the vanilla oil in it also helps relax your mind - relieving it from anxiety, anger and restlessness. I'm sure she'd feel amazing after that. Bath are always more fun with bath bombs. This Giant Rose Bombshell from Lush is perfect to use on Valentine's day. And of course, I'm sure she wouldn't mind you getting a bottle of champagne or rosé to go along with all these bath goodies.

Hope this list is useful to you.
Feel free to share this with your other half - I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting some ideas in finding that perfect gift for you!

Thanks so much for dropping by & reading!

Best Beauty Products of 2017

(*Disclaimer: Some of these products were sent to me, however all opinions are 100% genuine & my own.)

Hi beauties! Happy 2018, welcome to my first post of the year! Woot Woot! I can't believe it's already half way through the first month of 2018, hope you're all having a great start to the year. I thought it'd be fun to gather all my ultimate favourite beauty products that I've been using from the previous year. I fell in love with so many new products last year, however there're still quite a few products that I just can't stop repurchasing from year to year. So, read on and find out which products made it to my best beauty products of 2017 list!

Makeup / Face

If I can only choose 1 makeup product to use, it'd be concealer. This past year I've been using both Maybelline's Cover Stick Corrector Concealer and Stila's Stay All Day Concealer. Maybelline's Cover Stick has been my go to for many years. Both of these concealers feel light on the skin and does a great job covering up my imperfections. Stila's concealer is the more hydrating one out of the two, however neither one of them makes my skin feel dry or look cakey.

The Face Shop's Miracle Finish CC Intense Cover Cushion was one of the products I looked most forward to trying this past year. It's basically a sheer/light cream that you can wear alone to help cover up discolourations, brightening up the face and giving your skin that extra glow. I love how it gives the skin a little hydration, yet it feel light on the skin and looks so natural on the face.

I generally don't do contouring unless there's a special occasion. And for those special occasions, I'd use Nars' Contour Blush in Olympia. This again is one of those products that I'd repeatedly purchase. The shades work perfectly for my light skin tone and it's super easy to blend.

I've been using The Body Shop's Honey Bronze™ Highlighting Strobing Domes quite a bit this past year as my highlighter, blush & bronzer combo. They're so convenient and easy to use. Now, I only use all 3 of them on special occasions, but I did use that blush almost everyday. I love how the blush shade looked on my skin tone. There is a bit of shimmer in these products. I'm not a fan of shimmery finishes, but these domes actually weren't so bad. They gave my skin the glow it needed, without overpowering it with shimmer. And did I mention, these domes smells amazing!

Makeup / Eyes

I've been using Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner on and off for many years now and this year I've been going back to it quite a bit. I love how pigmented it is and how smoothly it goes on. It stays on all day and it's easy to remove at night.

The Face Shop's Browlasting Powder & Pencil is the very first brow powder product I tried. Though I can't compare it to other similar products, but I did love the product. I love how easy it is to use - simply just drawing the shape of the brows and powdering in any bald spots. And of course the most important part, it gave my brows a natural finish.

Makeup / Lips

When it comes to lips, I'm more of a lip balm girl rather than a lipstick girl. However, this past year I've tried out a few new lipsticks and have been using them here and there on those special occasions!

First up, I want to talk about Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment in nude. I personally love nude shade lipsticks, especially during the summer months. This lipstick has a sheer peachy nude shade and a soothing citrus scent to it. Some of its key ingredients include: grapeseed oil and vitamins C & E, which helps smooth and soften the lips. I love how this lipstick keeps my lips hydrated and soft.

Next up I want to talk about The Face Shop's Moisture Touch Lipstick in Pink Flamengo. Yes, as you know I'm a big fan of lip balms, needless to say all of my favourite lipsticks would need to have that moisturization feature, unless I can't get that shade anywhere else. What I love about this lipstick is that I can wear this shade pretty much at anytime of the year and it's suitable for most occasions. I love how it enhances my lips without overpowering it, giving me a relatively natural look.

And finally, I want to talk to you about Burt's Bees Lipstick in Blush Ripple. I love this shade because I think it's a perfect red for any dressy events or if you're having one of those days where you just feel like putting on a statement lip. One of the things I love about their lipsticks is that they're made with 100% natural ingredients. Burt's Bees make one of my favourite lip balms of all time, so I was really excited that I got to try out their lipsticks this past year. I've done a review on Burt's Bees lipsticks last year, if you're interested feel free to click here to check it out.

Skincare / Cleanse, Moisture & masks

Clinique's Take The Day Off Makeup Remover is definitely one of my favourite makeup removers that I've tried this past year. It's so gentle on my skin (as I have sensitive skin) and does a great job at getting rid of the products on my face.

After doing that, I've been switching between Fresh's Soy Face Cleanser and The Face Shop's Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam to do a more thorough cleanse. Both of these cleansers leaves my skin looking clearer and brighter.

After cleansing, I've been reaching for Dr. Belmeur's Daily Repair Toner. It's a mild toner that calms skin and boosts moisture. It's perfect for individuals that have sensitive skin like myself.

One of my favourite moisturizers from last year was Rodial's Snake Moisturizer. It's perfect for those who have sensitive skin like myself and are getting into their 30's and needing anti-aging products. This lotion doesn't feel heavy on the skin, yet it has enough moisturization to help keep my skin hydrated through the dry Canadian winter. I also love the fact that it has anti-aging abilities such as reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Masks are something I do once a week or once every 2 weeks. My Beauty Diary Masks are by far one of my favourite masks brands. They're so affordable and I love the generous amount of mask liquid they put in each of the packages. And of course I love how it never fails to leave my skin feeling soft and refreshed.

Facial masks are a common skincare routine thing, lip masks on the other hand are more unheard of. It definitely is a luxury thing and I would say that it's not needed in your normal skincare routines. However, since it's making some noise in the beauty industry and I was blessed enough to have a chance to try out a few of them last year, I figure I'd share my favourite one with you - just incase you're up for trying them out! I enjoyed using Rodial's Dragon's Blood Lip Mask. It felt so refreshing and left my lips feeling so soft and moisturized.

Schwarzkopf's BC Oil Miracle Light Finishing Treatment is one of my favourite hair oil out there and I've been using it for years. This is something I reach for when I notice my hair is looking a little dry. It instantly gives my hair the shine and hydration it needs.

Biolage's R.A.W. Smoothing Styling Milk is a product I got to try out last year and have been loving it. This styling milk is infused with honey and oat. You basically apply this product before blowdrying your hair. I've been applying it mainly on the bottom half of my hair and have been loving the smooth affects it gives my hair.

And finally Ouai's Texturing Hair Spray. Omg I've been loving and using this hair spray ever since the first time I tried it. Something about it, it just really gives the texture that my hair needs for the day.

That's my list for 2017. I'm so excited to see what's in store for 2018 and to discover more beauty products!

What were some of your favourite beauty products in 2017?
